You are right, actually. Sen. Hagel (a REPUBLICAN from NEBRASKA!!) did a very compelling interview on TV lately -- Jon Steward show if I remember correctly -- in which he called the Iraq invasion a blunder of truely historic proportions, one that it could take our country half a century to recover from. LaRocco had the sense to see through the nonsense from the beginning, and that is to his credit. It's hardly coincidental that an Army veteran like LaRocco would exhibit independent thinking instead of thinking he had to buy the Bush line in order to be perceived as patriotic. Patriotism in the end is about thinking for yourself about what serves our nation best, not about mindlessly agreeing to whatever the current president is saying you have to think.

I'm also intrigued by the attention to the Twin Falls area -- it's always seemed to me that whoever can carry Twin Falls carries Idaho -- does that mean that people in South Central Idaho are smart, or just open to reason? Anyway, good for LaRocco for having opened an office there recently. He represents the best hope for Idaho regaining a respected voice in the national conversation.
